PRELIMINARY REVIEW
The water heater works and performs as it is expected to. Just like a simple screw driver, we doesn't get too excited each time we use it, right? The tool simply works and we expect it to work without fail each time we use it. So it is with this Panasonic water heater model. Day in, day out it works

beautifully the way it is supposed to. Neither me nor my family members take any notice of it, and for me that is the hallmark of a good water heater: works so well it fades silently into the background, not making its presence felt, but vanishing in one's conscious mind. Just like the ubiquitous screwdriver!

In that case why not 5 stars? Well, the model I purchased came with a sticker on the panel. Which I proceeded to remove after the heater was installed. After some tugging and digging with the fingers the sticker came loose and I was able to scrap it off with my fingers. But some ugly sticky residue subbornly remained on the panel, marring the handsome heater.

Soap or detergent was unable to remove the ugly residue. I tried other cleaners. No luck. What can possibly clean up the ugly smear? I frowned and frowned as I racked my brain.. aahh, the paint thinner "just might do the trick!" Do the trick it did: it also removed the Panasonic brand name on the panel, and every other lettering that was silk-screened with some cheapo non-permanent ink on the heater panel. Aarrgghh... minus 1 star as penalty, maybe minus 2 as penalty?

I relented in the end. After all, the Panasonic water heater Model DH-3DL2S is supposed to be a plain-jane water heater only, doing its job merrily day-in, day-out, without making a statement. Unlike a Designer item. Just be cautious when you clean the casing - don't use any cleaner containing alcohol, turpentine, benzine, etc.

Verdict: 4 stars out of 5.
